Zimbabwe cricket team on Wednesday registered the record of making the highest team score in the history of men's T-20 international cricket.

He scored a mammoth score of 344/4 for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs against Gambia cricket team in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Sub Regional Qualifier-B held in Nairobi.

Captain Sikandar Raza helped the team reach this record by playing an incredible century.

Zimbabwe broke India's record

Zimbabwe's score of 344/4 against Gambia now becomes the highest score in T20 Internationals.

In this case, it left behind the score of 314/3 made by Nepal against Mongolia in September 2023.

Similarly, Zimbabwe has also surpassed the score of 297/6 made by the Indian cricket team against Bangladesh in Hyderabad this month.

However, this record in the match between full-member teams is still in the name of India.

Raza's stormy century helped in making the record

The architect of this record-breaking innings of Zimbabwe was captain Raza, who scored unbeaten 133 runs in 43 balls. His explosive innings included 7 fours and 15 sixes.

This brilliant performance came just 4 days after Zimbabwe's previous high score of 286/5 against Seychelles, highlighting their impressive performance in this tournament.

It is noteworthy that Raza has become the first Zimbabwean batsman to score a century in T-20 international cricket.

A total of 27 sixes were hit in Zimbabwe's innings.

In this record-breaking match, Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bat first and recorded the second highest powerplay score of 103/1 after 6 overs.

The team's aggressive batting continued with contributions from Brian Bennett (50) and Tadivanashe Marumani (62 off 19 balls).

Clive Madande also scored an unbeaten 50 and Zimbabwe hit a total of 27 sixes in their innings. He broke Nepal's previous record of 26 sixes.
