New Delhi: There is craze for cricket all over the world. Many people like to watch this game. Umpires act as decision makers for cricket matches. Umpires declare wide, no ball, out, six, four etc. in different ways. In cricket, the decision of the umpires is the final decision. There is a risk of changing the outcome of the match if there is a mistake in decision.
This has happened many times in cricket so far. There are many cases where umpires make mistakes and players become victims of it. Therefore, they take steps thoughtfully before giving their decision. Umpires use certain equipment on the field so that mistakes do not occur and the scope for mistakes is minimized. Let us know what equipment the umpires use during the match.
Counter: Once upon a time, umpires used a set of 6 coins, stones and marbles to count the balls bowled by the bowler. As soon as the bowler throws the ball, the marble or stone moves from one hand to the other. But due to increasing technology, counters have started being used. By pressing the button, the umpire can easily identify how many balls have been completed in the over.
Snickometer: The Snicko meter is used by the third umpire. Did the ball hit the bat or the pad? He uses this to confirm this. The sneakometer records the sound of the ball hitting the batsman's bat or pad. The third umpire will take the decision according to his own. If there is a high spike, the ball is considered to have hit the bat.
Ball Gauge: Ball gauges are used to determine if the ball is in the correct shape. The ball is placed in a ball gauge ring. Only then will we know whether the ball needs to be changed or not.
Light O Meter: Light o meter is used to determine if there is adequate lighting on the field. It is mainly used in test matches. If the umpire feels that there is not enough light on the field, he checks the outfield with a light o meter in the middle of the field.
Safety armor: Protective gear is an essential piece of equipment for umpires. Protects the umpires from dangerous shots played by the batsmen. It is controlled by the umpires. The umpire uses this shield for his safety.
Walkie Talkie: Walkie talkies are to umpires what mobile phones are to us. It is used by the third umpire to communicate with the match referee. You can also hear the sound of microphones attached to the stumps. The umpire asks the third umpire over walkie-talkie about any other decision like boundary, doubtful catch, run-out, stumping.
