PM Narendra Modi Guyana Visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Guyana on Wednesday on the last leg of his three-nation tour, the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in 50 years. PM met West Indies cricket celebrities in Guyana. During this, he described cricket as the connecting link between India and Caribbean countries. The PM also addressed a special session of the National Assembly in Guyana. Also participated in many cultural and community programs.

Clive Lloyd praised the PM

Former West Indies cricket team captain and veteran cricketer Clive Lloyd praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the meeting. During this, Clive also mentioned to PM Modi his interest in cricket and his work in helping in the expansion of the game. He said that he wants more Prime Ministers like PM Modi.

The veteran cricketer further said, 'We had a good discussion. The conversation was very good. I think 11 of our players will now train in India. So, this is a very good decision of his. We are grateful to him for this. People have elected him thrice, so it is clear that he is doing a good job. He is interested in cricket and it is very good. He is working to help promote cricket. Therefore, we want more Prime Ministers like him.

Other players praised PM Modi

Guyanese cricketer Devendra Bishoo praised PM Modi and called him a 'wonderful person'. He said, 'It is amazing to meet him for the first time. He is a wonderful person. With our President and him, we did many programs in a few days. I think the Guyanese people love them and really appreciate that they are here and that they have spent some time with our country and the diverse culture. So, it's wonderful to have him here. They seemed very simple. Which is a good quality of a human being.

Modi's special knowledge about cricket – Alvin Kalicharan

Former cricketer Alvin Kallicharan praised the Prime Minister's knowledge of cricket and said meeting him face-to-face was “magic”. He further said, 'Everyone in India knows cricket. But his knowledge is special because he knows when we went to India. He knows us by our first name. Today, meeting the Prime Minister in person is magical. This connection is tremendous. The kind of support we have received from the Prime Minister and India in working with our young cricketers has been very kind.

Tribute paid to Mahatma Gandhi's statue by paying floral tributes

During his visit to Georgetown, the Prime Minister paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi by paying floral tributes at his statue at the Promenade Garden. He also paid floral tributes at the Arya Samaj Memorial, visited Saraswati Vidya Niketan School and paid his respects at the Indian Arrival Memorial in the memorial garden. He also addressed a meeting of the Indian community.
