The Basil D'Oliveira Trophy series is played between England and South Africa. This trophy is given to the team which wins the test series between two countries. If the series is drawn, the winner keeps the trophy. It was first played in South Africa in 2004-05. The trophy is named after Basil D'Oliveira, a South African-born English Test cricketer. He was included in the English team to tour South Africa in 1968–69, which led to the tour being canceled following objections from South African officials due to D'Oliveira's 'coloured' classification.
