IND vs NZ, 3rd Test: Former India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar reacted to India's defeat in the home Test series against New Zealand and called it a “pill to swallow”. Tendulkar questioned where India went wrong and asked the team to introspect. However, he praised Shubman Gill's 90-run knock in the first innings and Rishabh Pant's two half-centuries and the way he adapted to challenging situations. India lost a Test series on home soil after 12 years as New Zealand clinched the series 3-0 against the Rohit Sharma-led side.
Tendulkar wrote on Twitter, “Losing 3-0 at home is very difficult and requires introspection. Was it lack of preparation, was it poor shot selection or lack of match practice? Shubman Gill first innings Showed flexibility and Rishabh Pant was brilliant in both innings – his footwork made a complete difference to the challenging surface.” The Master Blaster also credited the Kiwi team for their consistently good performance. “Full credit to New Zealand for their consistent performance throughout the series. Winning 3-0 in India is the best result,” he said.
Losing 3-0 at home is a tough pill to swallow, and it calls for introspection.

The Tom Latham-led side completed a historic 3-0 clean sweep against India at the Wankhede Stadium as they won the third Test by 25 runs. This is the first time that India has been whitewashed at home in a home series of three or more Test matches. New Zealand became the fourth team after England (4), Australia (3) and West Indies (once) to whitewash India in a 3-plus Test series.
This was also the first instance of New Zealand winning three Tests in a series, home or away, and the first in which they have won three consecutive overseas Tests. On a difficult and spin-friendly track, India faltered early while chasing the target of 147 runs. Half of the Indian team lost in the first 8 overs. Ajaz Patel took six wickets due to which India collapsed for 121 runs.
