This won't be Silva's first role in the ACC. He has previously served as the Chairman of the Finance and Marketing Committee of this organization. “It is a great honor to lead the Asian Cricket Council,” Silva said in the statement. Cricket is the heartbeat of Asia and I look forward to working closely with all member states to elevate the game, provide opportunities to emerging talent and keep us all united.

Recently Jay Shah took over as ICC President

Jay Shah started his tenure as ICC President from December 1 after working as the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Jay Shah was elected unopposed as ICC President in August this year. He is the youngest president to hold this position. Jay Shah has replaced Greg Barclay who was serving as ICC President since November 2020. Jay Shah is the fifth Indian to lead this global organization. Before Shah, businessman late Jagmohan Dalmiya, politician Sharad Pawar, lawyer Shashank Manohar and industrialist N Srinivasan have been among the Indians who have led the world cricket body. Shah, 36, was working as BCCI secretary for the last five years.
