India vs Australia Perth Test: Team India's experienced and talented batsman Shubman Gill is not a part of the Perth Test. The first match of the Test series is being played between India and Australia in Perth. Gill is out of this match due to injury. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has given an update on Gill's injury. Shubman got injured during practice before the match. His thumb is injured.
Jasprit Bumrah is captaining Team India in the Perth Test. India won the toss and decided to bat first for this match. BCCI shared an update on Gill's injury after the toss. The board wrote on the X, “Shubman Gill got injured on the second day of match simulation. His left thumb got injured. His selection was not considered for the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. BCCI medical is keeping an eye on his progress.
After Gill's injury, it was reported that his thumb was fractured. However it is not so. Gill can return to the field from the second match of the Test series. However, official information on his return has not been revealed.
Let us tell you that Team India captain Rohit Sharma is also not a part of the Perth Test. His wife Ritika Sajdeh has recently given birth to a son. So Rohit is with the family. He can also return to the field from the second test. The second test will be played in Adelaide.
UPDATE: Shubman Gill sustained a left thumb injury during Day 2 of match simulation at The WACA. He was not considered for selection for the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
