Indian team's best left-handed opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan surprised the fans by announcing his retirement from all formats of cricket on August 24. Now, along with revealing his decision, Shikhar has also given a big statement about the current Indian captain Rohit Sharma. The opening pair of Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma has single-handedly played an important role in helping the Indian team win many matches, in which now this statement of Dhawan regarding the captaincy of Rohit Sharma is also being considered very important. After retirement, Shikhar Dhawan had decided to play in the third season of Legends League Cricket in which he is currently playing for the Gujarat team.
Rohit is a great captain
Shikhar Dhawan, in his statement to news agency PTI, said about Rohit Sharma that he is a great captain and I am happy that the team won the World Cup for the country under his leadership. We all were waiting for a long time to win the World Cup. We narrowly missed winning the ODI World Cup but we managed to win the T20 World Cup this time. Apart from this, Dhawan also gave a statement regarding his decision of retirement and said that I thought that it is okay, I have played a lot of matches now and I was not playing so much cricket for a long time, due to which I had lost my rhythm. If I look at my statistics of last 2 years, I have played very less international matches and was playing more IPL. I did not want to play domestic cricket which I had started playing at the age of 18 or 19 but I no longer had the motivation to play this format of cricket.
I am happy with what I have achieved in my career
Shikhar Dhawan has an excellent record in limited overs format in international cricket. Dhawan also said in his statement that he is very happy with whatever he has achieved during his career. Every player wants to win the World Cup in his career and we also tried but we could not win but still I am very happy with my career.
