Star off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin put India in a strong position by taking two wickets of Bangladesh before the end of the fourth day of the rain-affected second cricket test. On the fourth day on Monday, 18 wickets fell, India scored the fastest 50, 100 and 200 runs, Virat Kohli completed 27000 runs in international cricket and Ravindra Jadeja took the 300th wicket. By scoring 50 runs in the very third over, India broke the record of England's fastest team half-century which was scored in 4.2 overs against West Indies at Trent Bridge in July this year. India improved its own record by completing 100 runs in the 11th over. India reached the fastest triple digit score in 12.2 overs in the Port of Spain Test in 2023 against West Indies. After this, India broke Australia's record of fastest 200 runs which it had made against Pakistan in the 2017 Sydney Test. India scored 200 runs in just 24.2 overs. In response to Bangladesh's 233 runs in the first innings, India, batting in T20 style, declared the first innings at 285 runs for nine wickets. In reply, at the end of the fourth day's play, Bangladesh lost two wickets for 26 runs and is still 26 runs behind India's first innings score.
Kohli's 27,000 runs Virat Kohli (47 runs) Became the fourth batsman to cross the 27,000-run mark across all formats of international cricket. In this list, Sachin Tendulkar (34,357), Sri Lanka's Sangakkara (28,016) and Australia's Ponting (27,483) are in third place.
