New Delhi: After scoring three centuries in five T20 innings for India, wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson has been handed over the captaincy of the Kerala team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. After his amazing performance, Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has appointed Samson as the captain for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. This tournament is going to run from 23 November to 15 December. India have no white-ball matches until January, making Samson available for Kerala for the entire Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament. The Indian team is currently on Australia tour for the five-match Border-Gavaskar series. Kerala has been placed in Group E along with Goa, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Services, Nagaland and Andhra Pradesh. Kerala team will play all its matches at Gymkhana Ground and Rajiv Gandhi Stadium.
Sanju shines against Bangladesh and South Africa
Sanju Samson has scored centuries in three of the five T20 matches played recently. He scored two consecutive centuries against Bangladesh and South Africa and then scored another century in the fourth T20 against South Africa. He scored a century in the third and final T20 against Bangladesh. Then scored a century in the first T20 against South Africa. With this, Samson became the first Indian batsman to score centuries in two consecutive T20 matches. After this, he was out for zero twice in the next two matches. But then he scored another century in the fourth and final T20 of the series. Kerala will begin their campaign against Services in Hyderabad on November 23.
