The family lived in a slum
Radha's family, a resident of Ajoshi village in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh, lived in a 220 square feet slum in Kolivari Basti, Mumbai. Radha started playing cricket when she was just six years old. She used to play cricket with the children in the streets. The financial condition of his family was not good. Radha's father ran a milk shop, which made it very difficult to support the entire family. But even in these adverse circumstances, he encouraged his daughter. Radha did not even have money to buy a bat, so she used to practice by making a wooden bat. His father used to take him on a bicycle to the stadium, three kilometers away from home. Considering the circumstances at home, the coach used to pay Radha's fees.
