Lucknow: Abhimanyu Easwaran continued his fine form with a brilliant century as Bengal drew with Uttar Pradesh on their final day of the Ranji Trophy on Monday. Easwaran, who had started the day on 78, scored his 27th first-class century – his fifth in the last nine innings – as Bengal declared their second innings at 254/3 and set UP a target of 274 runs. Despite the initial setbacks, the hosts held on for a draw thanks to a strong century (106 not out) from Priyam Garg. Bengal scored three points on the basis of first innings lead, while Uttar Pradesh had to be content with one point. While chasing the target, UP seemed to be in trouble at one time at the score of 52/3.

But Priyam Garg showed tremendous flexibility and handled the innings. He was supported by Nitish Rana, who scored 7 runs in 34 balls. Garg brought UP out of difficult situation. Despite the pain caused by multiple injuries to the ribs, waist and shoulder, Garg showed both challenge and intent.
