Sports teachers of the district held a meeting under the chairmanship of ADIOS Raghuraj Singh Pal and discussed the plan. However, now it has been cited as lack of facilities.
Jagran correspondent, Mainpuri. For the first time, Mainpuri got the opportunity to host the state level women's cricket competition but it was lost due to lack of facilities and arrangements. Due to lack of cricket pitch in the district and adequate arrangements for the safety of women players, DIOS has expressed its inability to organize the event in the district.
A letter has been sent to the government officials demanding to hold this competition in some other district of Agra division. This time Mainpuri was selected by the Secondary Education Council for the state level women's cricket competition of Under-17 and Under-19 category.
ADIOS held a meeting
On August 30, sports teachers of the district met under the chairmanship of ADIOS Raghuraj Singh Pal and discussed the plan. The event was proposed in the month of November. Women players from all the districts of 18 divisions had to come to Mainpuri for the competition.
Apart from Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Government Stadium, the sports grounds of SBRL School and Chitragupta Degree College were kept for the competition. The event was to be held in one of these. Now the education authorities have pulled back from holding the competition saying that not a single pitch is correct.
Cited lack of facilities
Grass has grown all over. The pitch is broken at many places, making it impossible to bowl the ball. Expressing inability, DIOS has demanded to hold the competition in some other district of Agra division. He has cited lack of facilities as the reason behind this.
This is also the biggest reason
– There is not a single place in the entire district where women players can be accommodated. There is no facility for their living or other work. There are not even women coaches who stay with the players and understand their situation.
– Due to absence of pitch curator, there are no arrangements to solve the problem of pitch here.
– Some education officers also expressed their inability to provide accommodation, food, security and transportation for the women players coming from 18 divisions.
ADIOS Raghuraj Singh Pal said, we have written a request letter that due to lack of adequate arrangements for pitch and ground, we cannot organize the event in our district. There has been a demand to organize the event in Agra itself. Now the government has to take the decision.
