Pakistan Cricket News: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made important changes in its selection committee. This happened after the crushing defeat in the home test against England. England defeated Pakistan by an innings, even though Pakistan had scored more than 500 runs in their first innings. Now, immediately after the big defeat, PCB has included Aleem Dar, Aaqib Javed and Azhar Ali as new members in the committee. All of them now join Asad Shafiq, analyst Hasan Cheema, as well as the team captain and coach, who are already part of the selection panel.
Pakistan now has seven voting members in this group who are responsible for the selection decisions. Additionally, there are four non-voting members: Azhar Mahmood (assistant coach), Bilal Afzal (adviser to the PCB chairman), Nadeem Khan (director of high performance) and Usman Wahla (director of international cricket).
This change has been made just a few days after the resignation of Mohammad Yusuf from the selection committee. No head of the committee has been appointed yet.
Team selection for the second test
The PCB's announcement came after Pakistan's innings and 47-run defeat in the first Test against England. Pakistan has become the first team to lose by innings after scoring more than 550 runs in its first innings. This was the team's third consecutive home Test defeat and their seventh defeat in the last nine home matches. Pakistan's poor performance has left them at the bottom of the World Test Championship (WTC) points table with just 16 points from eight matches. The newly appointed committee has the immediate task of selecting the team for the second Test match to be held in Multan, which will begin next Tuesday.
