Imrul Kayes wrote on social media, “Assalamu Alaikum, I am Imrul Kayes. With love and respect towards all my Bangladeshi cricket fans, I would like to share that I am soon going to take a difficult decision regarding my cricket career. On 16th November I will officially retire from Test and first-class cricket. This has been the most challenging and emotional decision of my 17-year career.
Imrul Kayes played 39 tests for Bangladesh
Let us tell you that left-handed batsman Imrul Kayes represented Bangladesh in 39 Test matches, scoring 1,797 runs at an average of 24.28, which includes three centuries and four fifties. His last Test match was against India at Eden Gardens in 2019. Where he scored only 9 runs in two innings and had to face a heavy defeat by an innings and 46 runs. Additionally, Kayes has played 137 first-class matches, scoring 7,930 runs at an average of 33.74, including 27 half-centuries and 20 centuries, his highest score being 204.

Imrul Kayes will continue to play in the white-ball format
While the experienced batsman has announced his retirement from the red-ball format, Imrul Kayes will continue to play in white-ball cricket. Kayes has played 78 ODI matches for Bangladesh, scoring 2,434 runs at an average of 32.02, including 16 half-centuries and four centuries. Their most recent ODI match was against West Indies in 2018, where they lost by four wickets. Kayes has also appeared in 14 T20 matches, in which he has scored 119 runs at an average of 9.15, but has not been able to achieve anything special.
