New Delhi:
Great Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar has joined the National Cricket League, US (NCL). Tendulkar is associated with the main ownership group of the league. Tendulkar's joining the group is enough to show how serious NCL is about expanding the foothold of cricket in America. According to the information, Tendulkar will present the trophy to the winning team in the inaugural tournament of NCL. NCL has recently announced a cricket tournament in America, in which many legends of the game are also playing the role of mentors of the participating teams.
On joining NCL, Sachin said, “Cricket has been an important journey of my life and I am very happy to join NCL to promote this game in America”, he said, “NCL's vision is to educate the new generation of fans. I am looking forward to being a part of this great initiative and the growth of cricket in America by joining me.”
On Sachin's association with the league, NCL Chairman Arun Agarwal said, “We are very thrilled with Sachin Tendulkar's association with the National Cricket League. Sachin's contribution to cricket is just like that of Pel in football or Babe in baseball. Ruth's dedication to the game and his global appeal are going to be a very important factor in the future of NCL as we introduce cricket to new fans in America. “Underlines our goal to inspire a generation and establish cricket in America.”
Agarwal said in the release, “Sachin Tendulkar's legacy is an important part of the history of the game. And because of his contributions, he is on par with other sports greats Michael Jordan, Tom Brady and LeBron James. Over the course of his nearly 24-year-long career, Tendulkar not only played cricket, but he also redefined the game. He has been the highest run scorer in both Test and ODI formats. With this contribution, Sachin has undisputedly earned the status of “God of Cricket”. “Becoming the first batsman to score 100 international centuries and a double century in ODIs is an achievement that few can dream of. No other cricketer can match it.”
