In the inaugural match of S.R. Rungta A-Division League, which started from Wednesday under the aegis of West Singhbhum District Cricket Association, last year's A-Division champion team Young Jharkhand Cricket Club Chaibasa got promoted from B-Division to A-Division for the first time. By defeating Meghahatuburu Cricket Club by three wickets, they not only collected full four points but also caused a huge upset in the competition. In this match played at Birsa Munda Cricket Stadium ground of Chaibasa, the captain of Meghahatuburu Cricket Club won the toss and invited the opposition team to bat first.
Due to the late start of the match, both the umpires decided to cut the overs and make the match 30-30 overs. Batting first, Young Jharkhand Cricket Club played the entire thirty overs and scored 212 runs at the loss of nine wickets. Left handed batsman Arvind Kumar scored maximum 47 runs with the help of six fours and three sixes. Among other batsmen, Aditya Yadav contributed 36 runs, Satyam Yadav 31, Shrijan Singh 23 and Mohd. Imroz contributed 14 runs. On behalf of Meghahatuburu Cricket Club, Ashish Tanwar took three wickets for 37 runs, and Amosh Ekka took two wickets for 36 runs. Suraj Kumar, Pragati Kumar, Arpit Mahantha and Prashant Kumar got one success each. Meghahatuburu Cricket Club team, which set out to chase the target of victory, won the match by scoring 215 runs at the loss of seven wickets in 29.3 overs. Ashish Tanwar played an excellent inning of 60 runs with the help of seven fours and one six, while Amosh Ekka, who came to bat at number eight, also played an important role in the team's victory by scoring 57 unbeaten runs with the help of six fours and three sixes.
Pragati Kumar scored 30, Suraj Kumar scored 24 and Arpit Mahanta scored 11 runs. Arvind Kumar, bowling for Young Jharkhand Cricket Club, took two wickets for 18 runs. Srijan Singh, Tanveer Raja, Sunny Mishra, Satyam Yadav and Aniket Singh got one wicket each. Tomorrow, in the second match of SR Rungta A-Division League, Young Jharkhand Cricket Club Chaibasa will play against Larsen Club Chaibasa.
