Last match played in T20 World Cup
36 year old Matthew Wade made his debut for Australia in 2011. He played his last match against India in the T20 World Cup this year. Wicketkeeper batsman Wade did not get a chance to play in ODI and Test since 2021. He was among the heroes of Australia's victory in the 2021 T20 World Cup. In the semi-final match against Pakistan, he took Australia to the final by hitting three sixes against Shaheen Afridi.
Wade joins the coaching staff
Matthew Wade will join Australia's coaching staff under Andre Borowec for the upcoming T20 series against Pakistan. Along with this, he will also remain for the ODI series starting in Melbourne next week. Along with coaching, Wade will also continue playing domestic cricket. He will continue to play domestic cricket for Tasmania and the Big Bash League with the Hobart Hurricanes for at least the next two seasons.

Matthew Wade's international career was 225 matches. He played 97 ODIs and 92 T20 International matches along with 36 Tests. He has 1613 runs in Tests at an average of 30 and this also includes 4 centuries. With the help of a century, Wade scored 1867 runs in ODI and 1202 runs in T20 International. He also captained Australia in 13 T20 matches.
