Kanpur, 24 September (HS). The teams of both the countries reached Kanpur on Tuesday for the test cricket match between India and Bangladesh which is to start on 27 September at Green Park Stadium. The players were welcomed in a traditional manner at Hotel Landmark. The police administration had made strict security arrangements.
The India-Bangladesh team reached the city on Tuesday for the second Test match at Green Park Stadium. The police administration and UPCA officials received the teams at Chakeri Airport and the teams were taken to Hotel Landmark under strict police surveillance. The second Test match is to be played from September 27 to October 1. Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir and Rishabh Pant arrived together at Hotel Landmark on Tuesday evening. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill were welcomed on reaching the hotel shortly after. After this KL Rahul also arrived. The players were welcomed with Rudraksha garland, patka, tika and bouquet at the hotel. After Shubman Gill and Abhishek Nair, other players of the team arrived with the Bangladesh team. All the players were given a warm welcome at the hotel. On reaching the hotel, the players first went to their respective rooms to rest. As soon as the players reached the city, enthusiasm and excitement was seen among the Kanpurites.
On Wednesday, Bangladesh will practice from 9.30 am and Team India will practice from 1.30 pm. Venue Director Dr. Sanjay Kapoor said that as per the schedule released by BCCI, Bangladesh team will practice on 25th from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm. Team India will sweat it out by practicing from 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm. On the second day, 26th September, Team India will practice from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and Bangladesh team will practice from 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm. He said that in this two-test match series, India took a 1-0 lead by defeating Bangladesh by 280 runs in the first match played in Chennai.
