Openers Shefali Verma and Smriti Mandhana gave a great start to the Indian innings and contributed important runs to strengthen the foundation of the team. Both the batsmen scored rapid runs and made a partnership of 98 runs for the first wicket.

India suffered two setbacks in the 13th over. India lost the wicket of Smriti first. Smriti played an excellent half-century and scored 50 runs in 38 balls, which included 4 fours and 1 six.

After this, Chamari Atapattu made Shefali his victim. Shefali also played a brilliant innings and scored 43 runs in 40 balls with the help of 4 fours.

After this, Indian T20 captain Harmanpreet and Jemimah Rodrigues took the innings forward. Especially captain Harman started scoring runs rapidly. India lost the third wicket in the form of Jemima in the 17th over. Jemima scored 16 runs in 10 balls and during this she also hit two fours.

Playing a explosive unbeaten inning, Harmanpreet scored 52 runs in 27 balls with 8 fours and one six. With this, India scored 172 runs after losing three wickets in 20 overs.

Sri Lanka, which had set out to chase 173 runs to win, had a bad start. Sri Lanka lost the wickets of its three important batsmen in the third over itself. Renuka Singh gave two blows to Sri Lanka. Opener Vishmi Gunaratne returned to the pavilion without opening the account. After this the wickets of Chamari (1) and Harshita Samarawickrama (3) fell.

After this Kavisha Dilhari and Anushka Sanjeevani took over the innings and added some runs. But this partnership could not last long and Anushka became the victim of Asha Shobhana after scoring 20 runs in 22 balls with 2 fours in the 8th over.

After this, Sri Lanka lost the wickets of Neelakshi de Silva (8), Sugandika Kumar (1), Inoshi Priyadarshini (1). Kavisha played an inning of 21 runs in 22 balls and hit one four.

Indian bowlers performed brilliantly and all out Sri Lanka for 90 runs in 19.5 overs. In this way India won the match by 82 runs.

For India, Arundhati Reddy and Asha Shobhana took three wickets each and Renuka Singh took two wickets. Deepti Sharma and Shreyanka Patil took one wicket each.

The Indian team will play its next match against Australia on 13 October.
