Mohammed Shami on Team India Next Star Bolwer: Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has praised young bowler Mayank Yadav and called him the future of Indian fast bowling. Mayank Yadav, the new discovery of the Indian team, is known as Speedmaster. This year in the IPL, he impressed the selectors by consistently bowling at 150 km per hour or faster and ultimately got a chance in Team India. Shami has declared himself 100 percent fit and ready to bowl. He believes that young Indian fast bowlers Mayank Yadav and Harshit Rana can take charge of Indian fast bowling in the future.
34-year-old Shami, who played the entire tournament despite injury in the ODI World Cup 2023, played an important role in making India the runner-up by taking 24 wickets at an excellent average of 10.70. Shami is now giving priority to his health. After undergoing surgery in London in February, he is working on his recovery at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
“The best thing for Indian cricket is that our fast bowling strength has really increased. Earlier, we had only a few bowlers who could bowl at 140-145 km/h,” Shami said at an event at Eugenics Hair Sciences in Gurugram. Used to bowl at hour speed, but now the bowlers sitting on the bench are bowling at speeds above 145, the name that has really impressed me is Mayank Yadav, he is really impressive. He is a player who will lead Indian fast bowling in the future.”
Shami believes that Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and Harshit Rana will take Indian cricket forward as batsmen. On the challenges of returning from injury, Shami said, “It is very difficult to get back on track after injury and break, so patience is the biggest thing. Injuries teach you patience and hone your skills.”
