Former President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and former captain of the Indian cricket team, Sourav Ganguly has said that if he had his way, he would immediately send Mohammed Shami to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy tour. Shami has recently returned to the field after staying away from cricket for 360 days following injury surgery. Shami performed brilliantly with both bat and ball during Bengal's Ranji Trophy match against Madhya Pradesh. Shami took seven wickets in two innings and scored a crucial 37 runs in 36 balls. Recently this information came to light that he may soon be sent to Australia. His childhood coach claimed that he could go to Australia for the second Test.

Ganguly said Shami does not need to play in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and even if he does not reach on time for the Perth Test, he should be on the next flight to Australia. He said, 'Yes, I will send them to Australia. He does not need to play in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. I will send him to Australia even if he misses the Perth Test. He has been bowling, he should be in flight, he has bowled well recently. He should be on the next flight to Australia.

Prasidh preferred over Akash Deep for Perth Test

Talking about the Perth Test, Ganguly said that he felt Prasidh Krishna should be given preference over Akash Deep. He said that he should be the third pacer of the famous India after Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. This is because his stature and the conditions there are helpful to him. He once again reiterated that Shami should go to Australia soon and reach in time for the Adelaide Test, which starts from December 6.

He said, 'He (Shami) may not be able to play in the Perth Test, but there will be favorable conditions for bowling. I think Prasidh would be preferred over Akash Deep due to the altitude and conditions. Therefore Shami should be on the flight and ready to play the Adelaide Test. Shami has a good record in Australia. He has taken 31 wickets in eight matches. Shami's average is 32.16.
