IND vs AUS: Not Joe Root or Babar Azam but Nathan Lyon called them the best batsman of world cricket

Virat Kohli has been struggling with poor form for some time now but Australia's experienced spinner Nathan Lyon respects him a lot and says that he is a champion who can never be denied. Kohli has not played big innings in the last few months. In the last 60 Test innings, he has been able to score only two centuries and 11 half-centuries. This year, his average in six Tests was only 22.72 and he could score only 93 runs in three Tests against New Zealand.

Lyon told cricket.com.au, “Look at his entire record. You can't rule out champions. I have immense respect for him.” He said, “I want to get him out but it will be challenging. It has been amazing to play against him so many times.” The 36-year-old off-spinner, who has taken 530 wickets in 129 Tests for Australia, said, “He and Smithy (Steve Smith) are two of the best batsmen of the last decade.”

Let us tell you, Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Joe Root and Babar Azam are counted as Fab-4. These batsmen have ruled international cricket in the last decade. If we talk about Virat Kohli's statistics, he has scored 9040 runs in 118 tests at an average of 47.83. During this period, 29 centuries and 31 half-centuries have come from his bat. Whereas in 295 ODIs, he has scored 13906 runs at an average of 58.18. Whereas in T20 International, Virat has scored 4188 runs with the bat at an average of 48.69.

At the same time, Steve Smith has scored 9685 runs in 195 innings of 109 Tests at an average of 56.97. Apart from this, he has scored 5662 runs in 165 ODIs at an average of 43.55. Whereas in 67 T20 Internationals, he has scored 1094 runs at an average of 24.86. Smith has scored 32 centuries in Tests and 12 centuries in ODIs. When the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy is about to begin between the two countries, it will be interesting to see who is the top run scorer in this series.

Lyon is among the four players of the current Australian team who were successful in the Test series against India in 2014-15. India has defeated Australia in the last two Test series but the team has come here after losing the home series to New Zealand 0 – 3. Lyon said, “The Indian team is always dangerous. They have many superstars. They have immense experience and there are many talented youngsters in the team. This team can never be underestimated.”
