Jasprit Bumrah Best Bowling Average Figure: India's A-lister Jasprit Bumrah has earned a place among the best bowlers of all time on the basis of his brilliant performance in the first match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia in Perth. With his blistering pace, Bumrah set the Perth pitch on fire with his sharp spells, which shook the Australian batting unit in the first innings. By his nature, Bumrah dictated the pace of the innings by molding the ball as per his wish. He bowled brilliantly consistently and wreaked havoc and put India in a strong position.
With his brilliant spell, Bumrah registered his name among the best bowlers in the longest format of cricket. In the list of bowlers who have taken at least 150 Test wickets, Bumrah is the bowler with the second highest bowling average. According to ESPNcricinfo, with 178 Test wickets, Bumrah has an impressive average of 20.16, which is better than England's legendary right-arm fast bowler Sydney Barnes' bowling average of 16.43. With yet another impressive performance, India's “National Treasure” added another feather to his cap.
The stand-in Indian captain was responsible for Australia being bundled out for 104 runs. Mohammed Siraj and debutant Harshit Rana provided excellent support and all three did not give any chance to change the course of the match. Using the bounce to his advantage, Bumrah dismissed Alex Carey's thick edge and achieved his 11th Test five-wicket haul on the second day of the opening Test. This was Bumrah's seventh five-wicket haul in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia) countries. With his recent exploits, Bumrah moved level with the great Kapil Dev for the most wickets taken by an Indian bowler in SENA countries.
