The International Cricket Council (ICC) has banned America's National Cricket League (NLC). The ICC wrote a letter to the United States of America Cricket (USAC) informing them of the decision not to sanction future editions of the league. In the letter, reference has been made to not following the playing eleven rules.
The last season of NCL was played between October 4 and 14. Chicago CC, captained by Robin Uthappa, won the title by defeating Atlanta Kings by 43 runs. God of cricket Sachin Tendulkar gave him the trophy.
Veteran batsman Sachin Tendulkar gave the trophy to Chicago CC captain Robin Uthappa.
Which rules were violated?
- According to ICC rules, every team playing in the league should have at least 7 American players in its playing eleven. But in many matches 6-7 foreign players were fielded.
- Drop-in pitches were used in the matches, which were very poor. The pitches were so bad that Wahab Riaz and Tymal Mills had to bowl spin so as not to hurt the batsmen.
- League officials even broke US immigration rules to give foreign players a chance. For sports category visa in America, it costs at least 2 lakh US dollars for 6 teams. Many players did not come on sports visa to save money.
Names like Tendulkar, Gavaskar and Akram associated with the league NCL had appointed former cricketers like Wasim Akram and Vivian Richards as brand ambassadors. It included Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar in its ownership group.
