ICC exposed the arrogance of Pakistan Cricket Board…gave ultimatum, PCB got trapped in its own trap

ICC ने पाकिस्तान क्रिकेट बोर्ड की निकाल दी हेकड़ी…दे दिया अल्टीमेटम, अपने ही जाल में फस गया PCB

India News (India News), Champions Trophy 2025 Update : During the ICC Board meeting on Friday, November 19, the International Cricket Council informed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that a hybrid model is now the only viable solution for the Champions Trophy 2025. This comes after the Indian government refused to allow its team to travel to Pakistan. The PCB remained firm and expressed its reluctance to accept the hybrid model, insisting that all matches be held in Pakistan. However, he was told that this would not be possible. In response, the PCB has asked for a day to consult internally with the Government of Pakistan, and the ICC Board is expected to meet again on Saturday, November 30.

Despite the current impasse, sources indicate that the PCB is likely to agree to the hybrid model after discussions with the Pakistan government. This decision could pave the way for a solution and ensure that Pakistan retains some hosting rights for the Champions Trophy 2025.

In a brief virtual meeting on Friday, attended by 12 full ICC members, three associate members and the ICC president, no consensus was reached. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi attended the meeting from Dubai.

possible scenario

If Pakistan agrees to the hybrid model, India's matches, one semi-final and the final will be held in Dubai, while the remaining matches will be held in Pakistan. With this, PCB will retain the hosting rights.

At the same time, if Pakistan rejects the hybrid model, then the ICC board can vote against their stand. If the PCB remains adamant, their hosting rights could be canceled and given to a third country. This could potentially lead to Pakistan boycotting the tournament completely. The Champions Trophy schedule was to be announced on November 11, but it was significantly delayed due to the impasse between BCCI and PCB.

Sri Lanka A team canceled the series

Pakistan was awarded the rights to host the Champions Trophy 2025 in November 2021 and the PCB began the renovation of its three stadiums at the beginning of the year. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi recently reiterated on Wednesday that Pakistan will not agree to the hybrid model. Naqvi's comments came after the Sri Lanka A team touring Pakistan had to end their series midway due to violent political protests in Islamabad.

Current situation in Pakistan

These protests, organized by the political party of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, had raised serious concerns about security in the country. Last year, Pakistan had agreed to host the Asia Cup in a hybrid model after India refused to allow cross-border travel. India has not played cricket in India since the 2008 Asia Cup. The two teams have not played bilateral cricket since the 2012–13 season. The Champions Trophy is an eight-team tournament played between the top 8 in the ICC ODI rankings. Pakistan had won the previous edition of the tournament by defeating India in the final at the Oval in London.
