Karachi: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi met Emirates (UAE) Cricket Board chief Mubashir Usmani in Dubai to discuss the 'hybrid model' for the Champions Trophy to be held in February-March next year. . According to a statement issued by the PCB regarding the meeting, Naqvi told Usmani that Pakistan is ready to host the Champions Trophy and all preparations are on schedule. Usmani is also the chairman of the ICC Associate Members Committee.

According to sources, Naqvi also said that the situation in Pakistan is stable and state level security will be provided to all the teams participating in this big event. He said the construction work on the stadiums hosting the tournament is also going on schedule and the people of Pakistan are looking forward to watching the best teams and players play in the country.

Earlier, the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday asked Pakistan to accept the 'hybrid' model for hosting the Champions Trophy or be prepared to pull out of the event. Due to PCB's stubborn stand on the 'hybrid' model, no decision could be taken in its executive board meeting.

The purpose of the emergency meeting held in Dubai was to discuss the schedule of the event to be held in February-March next year. India refused to go to Pakistan due to security concerns. After rejecting Pakistan's 'hybrid model', a consensus could not be reached.

It is understood that most of the ICC board members are sympathetic towards Pakistan but advised Naqvi to accept the 'hybrid' model as the only 'possible solution' to deal with the current situation. If the 'hybrid' model is adopted, there is a high possibility that India's matches will be played in UAE.
