New Delhi: Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma proved that he is the boss of Test cricket by winning the series 2-0 against Bangladesh. Today, Rohit Sharma, while opening the innings in Test cricket, paves the way for his team by batting aggressively. But do you know that there was a time when Rohit did not even get a place in the Test team.

Career was considered over in Test, then Rohit got rebirth
Hitman was in the team but he was rarely a part of the playing-11. At that time he did not start the innings and came to bat at number 5 or 6. During this period he was continuously proving to be a flop. In such a situation, the then Indian captain Virat Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri came into his life as messiahs. Both of them did something that changed Rohit Sharma's fortunes overnight and he became the boss of Test cricket as well.

Rohit Sharma himself has talked about this with cricket anchor Jatin Sapru. During this conversation, Rohit has revealed how he got the opportunity to open the innings for India in Test cricket and how he became famous as an opener overnight.

Virat and Shastri made Rohit reborn in test cricket
Rohit Sharma said, 'I am very grateful to Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri. He gave me a chance to open for India in Test cricket. He had asked me to open in the Test, at that time it was not easy to let someone open for India but he gave me the opportunity. This was my rebirth in Test cricket. He gave me complete freedom to play freely in Test cricket and play my natural game and he backed me. He asked me to open in the practice match and I got out for zero but he did not lose faith in me and continued his support for me. After this, I did the same thing in Tests that I was doing in ODIs and T20s.

Figures without opener Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma was first tried at number 3, number 4, number 5 and number 6 in Test cricket. With his bat at number 6, a total of 1037 runs were scored with 3 centuries and 6 half-centuries in 25 innings of 16 matches. Rohit scored 437 runs with 3 half-centuries in 16 innings of 9 matches at number 5. At number 4, he scored only 4 runs in 1 innings of 1 match. Batting at number 3, Rohit could score only 104 runs with 1 half-century in 5 innings of 4 matches.
