Sports lovers have got a new gift in Haridwar. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the newly constructed international level cricket stadium. In the inauguration ceremony, the Chief Minister thrilled the audience by hitting fours and sixes off the ball of Haridwar's Ranipur MLA Adesh Chauhan. This stadium has been built at a cost of Rs 9 crore and has facilities for day-night matches.
On the occasion of the inauguration of the stadium, CM Dhami said that this project will prove to be a milestone in the development of Haridwar and will provide a big platform to the local players. While congratulating the people of Haridwar, he said that this stadium will play an important role in fulfilling the decade resolution of Uttarakhand given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Apart from this, he said that a new faith will be awakened in the youth towards sports and the day is not far when Uttarakhand will be known as 'Land of Sports Talents' along with Devbhoomi.
Day-night matches will also be played in the new stadium
On this occasion, Vice Chairman of Haridwar Roorkee Development Authority (HRDA), Anshul Singh said that the stadium has high quality grass, good pitch, and modern lighting facilities so that night matches can also be organized. He said that it took one and a quarter year to complete this project and the capacity of the stadium is about 5000 spectators. There are plans to increase it further in future by expanding the stands.
The stadium was completed at a cost of Rs 9 crore.
The stadium has been constructed keeping in mind the safety of the players, which includes nets and other security facilities. The HRDA team has tried to improve this project by taking suggestions from the experts of Wankhede Stadium. The stadium will now be fully operational and further improvements will be made as progress progresses.
