Tim Southee Retirement: Veteran New Zealand cricketer Tim Saudi has decided to retire from Test cricket. He will be seen playing for the last time in the upcoming Test series against England. New Zealand Cricket Board gave information in this regard on Friday. If the Kiwi team reaches the World Test Championship 2025 (WTC 2025 Final), then the Saudis will be available for that match. The title match of the Test Championship is to be played in June next year.
Tim Saudi can end his Test career with a memorable win at his home ground Seddon Park in Hamilton. Saudis will decide after Christmas whether they will play in the white ball series against Sri Lanka or not. Even though he is going to say goodbye to Test cricket, he has given the fans a reason to be happy by confirming that he will continue playing domestic and franchise cricket for the time being.
What did Tim Saudi say on retirement?
Tim Saudi has been playing for the New Zealand team for the last 18 years. Upon announcing his retirement, he said, “Playing for New Zealand was a childhood dream of mine. It has been a huge honor to represent my country for 18 years, but now the time has come to step away from a game that has given me so much.” I am now going to end my career against the same team (England) which has a special place in my heart. These three grounds are very special for me. “Seems like the perfect time to happen.”
