Drone Desai News: 18-year-old Dron Desai has entered his name in the record books by scoring 498 runs during the Diwan Ballubhai Cup Under-19 Multi-Day Tournament. He created havoc on the field with his innings. Dron played this blazing innings for his school St. Xavier's (Loyola) against JL English School at Shivaay Cricket Ground in Gandhinagar on Tuesday.

Dron Desai faced 320 balls during his marathon innings, which included seven sixes and 86 fours. According to the Indian Express report, this annual tournament is organized by the Central Board of Cricket Ahmedabad which comes under the Gujarat Cricket Association.

Desai said after the match that he was disappointed that he missed the 500-run mark because he did not know that he was so close to this record. Desai said – There was no scoreboard in the field and my team did not tell me that I was batting on 498 runs, I played a stroke and got out but I am happy that I managed to score those runs.

Drona said- I started playing cricket at the age of seven and my father pushed me a lot because he felt that I had the potential to become a good cricketer. He took me to JP Sir (Jaiprakash Patel) who had coached more than 40 cricketers. From class 8 to 12, I used to go to school only for my exams. I just continued playing cricket and hope that one day I will make a name.

Thanks to Dron Desai's innings, his team won by an innings and 712 runs over JL English School. Desai, who batted at number three for his team, has played for the Gujarat Under-14 team and is now hoping to get a place in the state's Under-19 team. He says that he got inspired to take up the game after watching Sachin Tendulkar bat.

Pranav Dhanawade had once scored 1009 not out

Desai has become the sixth batsman of the country to score such a big score. Before this, Mumbai's Pranav Dhanawade (1009 not out), Prithvi Shaw (546), Dr. Havewala (515), Chamanlal (506 not out) and Armaan Jaffer (498) have been the batsmen who scored the most runs in an innings.

In January 2016, while playing in the Bhandari Cup, Pranav played this innings of 129 fours and 59 sixes in 327 balls against Arya Gurukul (CBSE), which is the highest score ever in a school tournament (Most runs in an innings – minor cricket in All). He played this innings in Kalyan (Mumbai).
