Former RCB coach Mike Hesson said that Virat Kohli is now at that stage where personal records do not matter to him and only India's victory is in his mind.
New Delhi. Team India's star batsman and run machine Virat Kohli seems to be struggling a bit in Test cricket. He has not scored a fifty in Test cricket on a single occasion so far this year and since 2019, he has been able to score only 2 centuries in this format. But the Indian team has to go on Australia tour next month, where this time it will play a 5-Test series under the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Indian fans are hopeful of Virat Kohli's form as he will prove to be the trump card on the Australia tour.
Meanwhile, former coach of Virat Kohli's IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Mike Hasson has warned the Kangaroos about Virat Kohli before the series. Kohli has not been able to succeed in his favorite format Test cricket for a long time, while the other three players with whom he is compared in the Fab 4 in world cricket are continuously successful. Australia's Steve Smith, England's Joe Root and New Zealand's Kane Williamson have scored runs continuously during this period and have played an important role in the victory of their teams.
But now Mike Hesson hopes that Kohli can be seen in the same rhythm on the Australia tour for which he is known. Hesson said that he no longer looks at his personal records but his priority is India's victory and in such a situation, when you are not worried about your achievements, big scores come automatically.
Talking to Geo Cinema, this coach said, 'I think Virat Kohli is now at a place in his career where he just wants to try to win matches for India. And I think this is a dangerous situation for the other parties. Because if he is doing this (the team's need) instead of focusing on numbers, then big scores will come naturally.
He said, 'It will be important to maintain our rhythm in Australia and the ability to counter attack by knowing the right moments is important there. The situation between 30 to 60 overs of the match will be important and if Kohli is at the crease during that time, he will not let the match slip. It depends on finding the gap, hitting into the gap, running one and two runs. If he tries to attack Kohli, he will do a count attack.
