Etawah/Saifai. Recently an international cricket match was organized at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. A large number of youth from the district had also come to participate in this match.
Players of the district say that if the days of the stadium built in Saifai are over, the business along with the players will also flourish. Saifai International Stadium has been shedding tears of poor condition for eight years. Local people say that with the change of government, the days of all the schemes of the district also changed and the schemes got ruined.
Many schemes were started during the tenure of the SP government in the village Saifai of SP National President and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. Among these, the International Cricket Stadium, built at a cost of Rs 325 crore, is gathering dust due to not being in use for seven years.
Leave aside international matches, even state level matches could not be organized in stadiums. Huge grass has grown around the dilapidated stadium. There is a pile of filth all around the stadium from inside to outside. It has not been painted for years. The machines parked in the park have also become dilapidated.
The construction of the stadium, which started in 2013, was completed in 2017. The then Sports Minister Chetan Chauhan had inspected the stadium and praised it. In 2019, the stadium was inspected by Minister of State for Sports Upendra Tiwari. He had instructed the Sports Department to start the stadium as soon as possible. Even after several inspections, the assurances of those responsible could not be transformed into reality and the result remained the same.
The international cricket stadium built in Saifai has a seating capacity of 43 thousand spectators, whereas Green Park in Kanpur has a seating capacity of 45 thousand. Its capacity is just two thousand less than Green Park Stadium. Rain had disrupted the match held in Kanpur, whereas such technology has been used in this stadium so that the rain water will dry up soon.
The stadium was constructed under the supervision of Chief Curator Daljit Singh, who built the Mohali Stadium. In this, separate south pavilions, umpire room, players' dressing room, change room, media center, pavilion box, VIP box have also been made for the seating of the teams.
The stadium has nine pitches
Nine pitches have been prepared in the stadium. Test, one-day and T-20 matches can be organized here. A special type of Bermuda grass has been planted in the field. The radius of the field is seven meters (120 meters boundary to boundary). The executing agency Government Construction Corporation has also handed over the International Cricket Stadium to the Sports Department, but the electricity connection has not been done yet. However, 50 cricket players studying in Major Dhyan Chand Sports College definitely practice in the stadium.

Told that due to lack of adequate arrangements for accommodation of international players, permission for matches is not being given here.
