Panchkula. Police have arrested cricket coach Karan Panta for cheating a woman of Rs 2 crore in the name of making her son a cricketer. The accused was presented in the district court. The court has sent the accused to Ambala jail. So far, a mobile phone has been recovered from the accused. The defrauded amount could not be recovered from the accused. Deepanjali Singh, resident of Sector-15, said that the coach had cheated her of Rs 2 crore.
Panchkula DCP Himadri Kaushik said that the coach of the private school had told the woman about her acquaintance with BCCI, Union Minister Anurag Thakur and cricketer Rishabh Pant, former Himachal Pradesh CM Prem Dhumal. Investigation revealed that he had cheated the woman by creating a fake account. A case of purchasing property from a woman with Rs 2 crore taken from her in four months has come to light. The woman's lawyer has requested to seal this property. The police is investigating the matter
Deepanjali Singh, resident of Sector-15, had alleged that her 17-year-old son studies in a private school in Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh. He lives in the hostel there. A young man named Karan Panta was a cricket coach in the same school. The accused met Deepanjali Singh and said that his son plays cricket very well. It will take some money but his son will start playing cricket in the national and India-A team. Along with this, the promise of playing county cricket in England was given.
After this he came to his house in Sector-15, Panchkula. The woman said that she had talked about being acquainted with BCCI, Union Minister Anurag Thakur, former Himachal CM Prem Dhumal, cricketer Rishabh Pant. He took the money and tricked his son into giving him a donation to the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association for the National Championship. Cricket coach Karan Panta had also pretended to know others well.
