Champions Trophy 2025 Although the Champions Trophy is to be organized next year, there is a continuous discussion about it. BCCI has made it clear that the Indian team will not tour Pakistan. Due to security reasons, the Indian government is not in favor of sending the team to Pakistan. On the other hand, BCCI is ready to play the tournament on hybrid model.
Sports Desk, New Delhi. Even though the Champions Trophy is to be organized next year, there is continuous turmoil regarding it. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has made it clear that the Indian team will not tour Pakistan. Due to security reasons, the Indian government is not in favor of sending the team to Pakistan. However, BCCI is ready to play the tournament on hybrid model.
The board will suffer huge losses
On the other hand, Pakistan Cricket Board has clearly refused the hybrid model. PCB Chief said that the entire tournament should be held in Pakistan. Amidst all this, if the tournament is postponed or shifted to some other country, the Pakistan Cricket Board may suffer huge losses.
There will be cuts in funding
According to the report of Cricbuzz, if the Champions Trophy 2025 is postponed or the tournament is shifted to some other country, then Pakistan Cricket Board may face ICC sanctions. ICC will cut the funding given to Pakistan Cricket Board. PCB, being the host, is to receive US$65 million from ICC. If the tournament is shifted or postponed, Pakistan will lose 65 million US dollars (1820 crore Pakistan rupees) as hosting fees.
Pakistan's 3 stadiums ready
Not only this, Pakistan has made special preparations for the Champions Trophy. The tournament is to be organized in 3 stadiums of Pakistan. In such a situation, Pakistan Cricket Board has spent crores of rupees on these 3 venues. PCB upgraded Karachi, Rawalpindi and Lahore stadiums. According to a report, Pakistan Cricket Board spent Rs 1300 crore on updating 3 stadiums. The board said that these stadiums are now completely new.
Security is a big issue in Pakistan
Even if the amount spent on the stadium is excluded, Pakistan would still be left with Rs 500 crore to organize the tournament. With this much money the tournament could have been organized in a grand manner. However, the Indian government is not ready to send a team to Pakistan due to security reasons. The government says that terrorism and talks cannot go together.
