Muhammad Wasim has written on the social media platform X that I have decided to leave the captaincy to focus on my batting in the ODI format. My best wishes are with the new captain, I will give him my full support. Wasim became the captain of the UAE team in the year 2023. Under his captaincy, the team played 26 ODI matches, out of which they won 7 and lost 19. Wasim performed exceptionally well for the team in the matches it won. He scored at an average of 64.28 in those seven matches. Scored a total of three half-centuries including his only century in this format.
Rahul Chopra has played only 7 ODI matches
Rahul Chopra, who was made captain in place of Muhammad Wasim, does not have much experience. Chopra has played only 7 ODI matches so far and this year he made his ODI debut for UAE. He has 139 ODI runs registered in his name. Apart from this, he scored 71 runs in 6 T20 International matches.
