This report was published in The Telegraph on Tuesday on the tournament running from 19 February to 9 March. However, no official confirmation could be received on this matter. The Telegraph reported on Tuesday that alternative venues for India's matches were being 'informally' considered and that if India qualifies, the final would be hosted in Dubai.
India has not toured Pakistan since July 2008 due to strained political relations between the neighboring countries. Recently, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had said that the tournament will be held in his country and all the matches including India will be held in Pakistan. Naqvi had also told that preparations for the tournament are going as per plan.
Last year, Pakistan was the official host of the Asia Cup, but the continental tournament was eventually jointly organized with India and the matches were held in Sri Lanka. BCCI had then given the reason for not touring Pakistan as the reason for not giving permission by the Indian government. India last played a bilateral series with Pakistan in 2012–13 and since then the two countries have met only in global events.
