South Africa Cricket: On the basis of excellent performance in the last few Test matches, the South African cricket team has kept itself alive in the race to reach the World Test Championship final next year. A bad news has come for the team before the upcoming home test series. Cricket South Africa (CSA) said on Thursday that South African fast bowler Lungi Ngidi has been ruled out of the upcoming home series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan due to a back injury. His absence is a big blow to the team.
out of the team for a long time
Cricket South Africa (CSA) said on Thursday that South African fast bowler Lungi Ngidi has been ruled out of the upcoming home series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan due to a back injury. CSA said Ngidi, 28, recently underwent a medical assessment as part of his structured conditioning period, during which scans revealed bilateral proximal adductor tendinopathy. He will now begin a rehab program and is expected to return to play in January.

This means that South Africa will be without Ngidi's services for the two Tests against Sri Lanka and the all-format series against Pakistan. Ngidi has taken 55 wickets in 19 Test matches for South Africa at an average of just 23.14. His last international appearance for the Proteas was in the ODI series against Ireland in Abu Dhabi last month.
This star is on his way to getting fit
CSA said Test captain Temba Bavuma is making positive progress in his recovery from a left elbow injury. He will undergo a fitness test on November 18 to ascertain his availability for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. This series will start on 27th November in Durban.
