New Delhi:
Jaiswal on the verge of century: Praising Yashasvi Jaiswal's unbeaten 90-run innings in India's second innings on the second day of the first Test against Australia, former Australian wicketkeeper batsman Adam Gilchrist praised the opener for making a crucial 172-run partnership with KL Rahul. Appreciated his commitment. Jaiswal, playing his first Test in Australia in front of 32,368 spectators at Perth Stadium, was out for zero in the first innings, but he showed patience and aggression in the second innings and maintained complete control over his brilliant innings which was adorned with 7 fours and 2 sixes. Till the end of the second day of the first Test, this young batsman defeated the bowlers of the host team a lot.
Gilchrist told Fox Sports, “He knows that Yashasvi is a very aggressive player. He creates havoc in the IPL as well, but he has been a real aggressive player in Test cricket in India as well. He has scored the maximum number of wickets in a very short period of time in his career. “We have hit sixes, so the thought and commitment shown to build such an important partnership for India has been really impressive.”
At the same time, former Australian batsman Mike Hussey also expressed similar views. He said, “I wanted to see him play on bouncy pitches in Australia to see how he deals with it, but this innings shows that he can face any conditions around the world.”
Jaiswal's 9th Test half-century came in 123 balls, which is the slowest half-century of his career so far, but the way he showed his ability to withstand pressure and shot selection is fantastic. During this, he made an unbroken partnership of 172 runs with Rahul. KL Rahul is unbeaten after scoring 62 runs. In this way India increased its total lead to 218 runs.
