Fast bowler Alzarri Joseph got into a verbal fight with his captain Shai Hope and later left the field. Cricket West Indies has taken action against his behaviour.
New Delhi. West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph has been banned for 2 matches by the West Indies Cricket Board. Joseph had a fight with his own captain Shai Hope during the third and last ODI match played against England on Wednesday. Joseph's anger was not subsiding and he even left the field after the argument. The West Indies Cricket Board has considered this behavior of this fast bowler as undisciplined and has dismissed him from 2 matches as punishment.
Let us tell you that during the first powerplay of the match, Joseph was angry with the fielding set by his captain in the fourth over. He also dismissed England batsman Jordan Cox in this over. But despite this he continued to get angry at the captain and left the field. However, later his anger calmed down and after about one over he returned to the field and bowled the full 10 overs of his quota.
This video of his action went viral on social media. After this match, Cricket West Indies issued a statement on Thursday saying that Alzarri Joseph has not met the criteria of Cricket West Indies (CWI). This kind of behavior cannot be ignored and it has been decided to ban him for two matches.
Cricket West Indies director Miles Bascombe said, 'Alzarri's behavior does not live up to the values of Cricket West Indies. This kind of behavior cannot be ignored and we have taken a decisive decision to take full care of that situation.
Joseph has also apologized for his behaviour. He was quoted as saying in a Cricket West Indies release, 'I realized that my emotions had got the better of me. I have personally apologized to captain Shai Hope, my teammates and the team management. Along with this, I also apologize to the fans of West Indies. I understand that even a small error in judgment can have far reaching consequences. I sincerely apologize to those who have been disappointed by my behavior.
