This tournament is being organized by Kumaon Regiment, in which 16 teams are participating. The aim of this tournament is to bring more and more young generation to the field and keep the youth away from drugs and hone their skills, so that talented players can get a platform in the future. For the first time, a turf wicket has also been made by the Army in the mountains, which is a pleasant experience for the players playing cricket here.
While talking to Local 18, Subedar Bharat Singh of Kumaon Regiment said that this tournament is being organized by Brigadier Sanjay Yadav (VSM) and BB Thapa of Kumaon Regiment Centre. 16 teams have participated in this. Teams from different cities have participated in the tournament. Teams from Almora, Haldwani, Chaukhutia, Ranikhet and Army are also participating. The purpose of the tournament is to ensure that the youth stay away from drugs. Skilled players can be promoted. Ranikhet has also got its first turf wicket. The youth will benefit from this.
'I feel like I am playing a big level tournament'
Senior cricketer Chandan Latwal told Local 18 that the soldiers of the country have once again touched the heart. They are feeling very good after coming here because there is no turf wicket at all in the hilly areas, but here a turf wicket has been made by the Army, on which it feels very good to play. This is quite excellent. He believes that by playing here, it feels like I am playing a big level tournament. Cricketer Vikas Fartyal said that the turf wicket made by the Indian Army will greatly benefit the young players. He is also participating in this tournament and he is enjoying playing here very much.
