“At the end of Afghanistan's batting innings, Mushfiqur suffered an injury to the index finger of his left hand while keeping wickets,” team physio Dilawar Hossain said in a BCB statement. Post-match X-rays confirmed a fracture in the index finger of his left hand near the DIP joint. He is under conservative management and is not available for the second and third ODIs. “Further information regarding his condition and expected recovery period will be provided in due course.”
Who will do wicketkeeping?
Mushfiqur's injury forced him to bat at number seven as, chasing the target of 236, Bangladesh went from 120 for two to losing eight wickets for just 23 runs. He was stumped out on 1 run. Mohammad Ghazanfar returned with figures of 6-26 for Afghanistan as Bangladesh were all out for 143 runs. Bangladesh are yet to announce Mushfiqur's replacement as they trail 0-1 in the three-match series. In the absence of Liton Das, who is recovering from fever, Zakir Ali may keep wickets for the remaining matches of the series.
