The date of 24 October 2024 was recorded in golden letters in the history of Test cricket. In Pune, the Indian spinners made the New Zealand batsmen dance with their spin. R Ashwin and Washington Sundar together bundled out the entire New Zealand team for 259 runs. This happened for the sixth time on Indian soil when all 10 wickets in the first innings on the first day of a Test match fell in the hands of spinners. R Ashwin hunted 3 batsmen while Washington Sundar showed the way to the pavilion to 7 batsmen.

In response to New Zealand's score of 259 runs, India had put 16 runs on the scoreboard after losing 1 wicket in its first innings by the end of the day's play. Rohit Sharma returned to the pavilion without opening the account. He was dismissed by Tim Southee. On one hand, in Pune, the Indian spinners made the Kiwi batsmen dance hard, while on the other hand, in the neighboring country of Pakistan, the spinners troubled the English batsmen a lot.

The magic of spin was seen in Pakistan also

Like India, Pakistani spinners also did a great feat of dismissing all the 10 players of England. This is the sixth time in the history of Test cricket that Pakistani spinners have taken all 10 wickets in the first innings of a Test match. At the same time, this has happened for the fourth time against England when all its players have become victims of spinners. After England's first innings was all out for 267 runs, Pakistan had put 73 runs on the scoreboard after losing 3 wickets by the end of the first day's play in the Rawalpindi Test. Here too the spinners won. Jack Leach and Shoaib Bashir took 1 wicket each while pacer Gus Atkinson got one success.

South Africa defeated Bangladesh

Now let's talk about the third test match which was played on this day i.e. 24th October. The only difference was that the India vs New Zealand and Pakistan vs England test matches started while the South Africa vs Bangladesh match ended today. In this match, South Africa defeated Bangladesh by 7 wickets.

On the fourth day, Bangladesh scored 283 runs after losing 7 wickets, but on the last day of the match, Kagiso Rabada dismissed two Bangladeshi batsmen and Wiaan Mulder dismissed one batsman, reducing the host team to 307 runs. After this, South Africa achieved the target of 106 runs by losing 3 wickets. Bangladesh spinner Taijul Islam took South Africa's three wickets. In this way, a total of 30 wickets fell in 3 Test matches in a single day, out of which 25 wickets were taken by the spinners alone while Kagiso Rabada was the only fast bowler who achieved the feat of taking more than one wicket. The remaining 3 fast bowlers took only 1 wicket each.
