India's ace batsman Rituraj Gaikwad performed a feat on 28 November 2022 which surprised the cricket world. For the first time in cricket, a batsman had hit 7 consecutive sixes in an over. While playing for Maharashtra in domestic cricket, Rituraj Gaikwad made this unique world record during the quarter-final match of Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament. The quarter-final match of Vijay Hazare Trophy was played between Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh on 28 November 2022.

During this period, Rituraj Gaikwad tore apart Uttar Pradesh's left arm spinner Shiva Singh. Shiva Singh bowled a total of 7 balls including 1 no ball in this over. Rituraj Gaikwad hit 7 consecutive sixes on all these 7 balls. Rituraj Gaikwad scored a total of 43 runs in this over of Shiva Singh.
