3 Coaches who left Pakistan Team abruptly before Gary Kirsten: There is always something or the other happening in the Pakistan cricket team. Now if we look at the latest example, their limited overs coach Gary Kirsten has resigned within six months. Kirsten's resignation has come at a time when the Pakistani team is ready to go to Australia. Pakistan has to play its first ODI in Australia in a week and before that the coach has left them. In this series, let us take a look at those three other coaches who left Pakistan prematurely.
#3 Morne Morkel
Former South African fast bowler Morne Morkel joined the Pakistan team as bowling coach in June 2023. As soon as he arrived, Pakistan visited Sri Lanka for a Test series. After this, Morkel resigned from his post after Pakistan's poor performance in the ODI World Cup played in India. Morkel resigned on November 13, 2023, with six weeks left on his contract.
#2 Mickey Arthur
Mickey Arthur, one of the most successful coaches of Pakistan, has also left the Pakistani team prematurely once. Arthur, who won the 2017 Champions Trophy for Pakistan, was made its cricket director in April last year.
At that time he was also the head coach of Derbyshire. Arthur was allowed to do both at the same time. However, in January 2024 itself, Arthur resigned from his post of the Pakistani team within nine months.
#1 Waqar Younis
In March 2006, Pakistan's great fast bowler Waqar Younis was made the bowling coach of the team. After this, he resigned from his post in the beginning of January 2007. He did this in protest against the decision of the Pakistan Cricket Board in which he was kept in the Test series against South Africa, but was dropped from the five-match ODI series to be held immediately thereafter.
