West Indies ODI And T20 Team: West Indies team has to play a series of three T20 and three ODI matches against Sri Lanka and now West Indies has announced its squad for this. Different captains have been announced for both T20 and ODI series. Rovman Powell has got the captaincy for the T20 series and Shai Hope for the ODI series. Young and experienced players have got chances in the team.
Many senior players are out
The T20 series between Sri Lanka and West Indies will be played from 10 to 17 October. Earlier this year, the West Indies team had won the series against South Africa by 3-0. Because of this, its ranking has improved and the team has reached fourth position. Players like Nicholas Pooran, Andre Russell, Akeal Hosein and Shimron Hetmyer have chosen to stay out of the team for the series against Sri Lanka. For this reason many young players have entered the team. Rowman will be the captain while Roston Chase will be in the role of vice-captain. Rovman Powell plays for Rajasthan in IPL. He has scored 360 runs in 26 IPL matches so far.

West Indies team coach Darren Sammy has said on the T20 team that the tour of Lanka gives us an opportunity to test our depth and assess the players in different conditions. Many senior players are not in the team due to various reasons. We are confident in the team's ability to compete strongly against Sri Lanka.

Brandon King has returned to the team
The ODI series will be played from 20 to 27 October. Shai Hope has become the captain and Alzarri Joseph has become the vice-captain for the ODI series. Shai Hope has played for Delhi Capitals in IPL. He has scored 183 runs in 9 matches of IPL 2024. West Indies will be eyeing to prepare the team for the ODI World Cup 2027 from now on. To perform well, the team would like to improve its ODI ranking. Players like Brandon King and Sherfane Rutherford have returned. Jewel Andrew has also been given a chance in the team.
