Mayank Yadav has been included as a traveling reserve in the series against New Zealand. Apart from Mayank Yadav, Harshit Rana, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Prasidh Krishna are also traveling reserves.

There are media reports that Rohit Sharma may miss the first or second match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia. In such a situation, the focus has shifted to the vice-captain of the Indian Test team. Jasprit Bumrah played the role of vice-captain in the home Test series against Sri Lanka in March 2022.
