Veteran batting all-rounder Sanath Jayasuriya has been made the head coach of the Sri Lankan cricket team. On Monday, the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket took the decision to make Jayasuriya the head coach. SLC gave this information through an X post.

55-year-old Jayasuriya has been rewarded for the team's performance against India, England and New Zealand. The team has made a clean sweep at home in the Test series against New Zealand in September. The team defeated England by 8 wickets in the third test, although the team lost the 3-match series 2-1. Earlier, the team had won 2-0 in the ODI series against India.

Jayasuriya was made the interim head coach of the Sri Lankan team in the month of September. Jayasuriya's tenure will last till March 31, 2026.
