Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said at the inauguration of the tournament that sports inspires us to work with team spirit. “Teamwork increases the chances of success, while lack of team spirit increases the chances of failure,” CM Yogi said. He also said that sports is not only a medium for winning but also for learning from defeat. Every defeat gives us a new lesson and inspires us to move forward.

Government's commitment to advocate welfare

On this occasion, CM Yogi mentioned the steps taken by the state government for the welfare of advocates. He informed that the corpus fund of Advocates Welfare Fund has been increased to Rs 500 crore. Apart from this, the amount of assistance given to the families of advocates in case of untimely death has also been increased from Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. So far, the government has distributed assistance amounting to Rs 134 crore to the families of deceased advocates.

Government incentives for players

CM Yogi also mentioned the incentives being given to the players by the Uttar Pradesh government. He told that the government gives incentive amount to the players who win medals in Olympics, Asiad, and Commonwealth Games. In the singles game, an incentive amount of Rs 6 crore is provided to the gold medalist, Rs 3 crore to the silver medalist and Rs 1 crore to the bronze medalist. In team games this amount is Rs 3 crore, Rs 1.5 crore and Rs 75 lakh respectively.

Provision for direct appointment

The Chief Minister said that the state government has made a provision for direct appointment for the players. Players who have excelled in the Olympics and other big sporting events are being given direct appointment in government services. Giving an example, he said that hockey bronze medalist Lalit Upadhyay has been appointed to the post of Deputy SP in Uttar Pradesh Police. Similarly, athlete Parul Chaudhary has also been appointed as Deputy SP.

Women advocate teams will also get a place

CM Yogi emphasized that in future, women advocate teams should also get an opportunity to participate in this tournament. “Women today are performing brilliantly in every field, and their participation in the Advocate Cricket Tournament will make the event even more inspiring,” he said. He called for encouraging the participation of women lawyers.

Trophy unveiled and kits distributed to players

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath unveiled the competition trophy on the occasion and distributed kits to the captains of all the participating teams. He said that sports is not just entertainment, but it is also a medium to accurately assess our physical and mental abilities. CM Yogi said that sports inspire us to fight adverse situations and also provide an opportunity for our self-evaluation.

Senior judge of Allahabad High Court, members of the organizing committee and other dignitaries were present on this occasion. CM Yogi reiterated his government's commitment towards the welfare of advocates and sportspersons in the program and said that such events will continue to be organized in future also, which will increase the importance of sports and physical activities in the society.
