IND vs BAN: A three-match T20I series will be played between India and Bangladesh and its first match will be played in Gwalior from 7.30 pm Indian time. Before this match, Bangladesh cricket team did not go to Moti Masjid of the city on Friday to offer Friday prayers. Instead the entire team offered namaz in the hotel itself. According to the language report, this information was given by a police officer.
Bangladesh team did not come to offer namaz in the mosque
Gwalior Zone Inspector General Arvind Saxena, while speaking to PTI over phone, said that we had made tight security arrangements around Moti Masjid, but the Bangladesh team did not come to offer namaz. However, no organization had talked about disrupting his tour. The mosque located in Gwalior's Phoolbagh area is about 3 kilometers away from the hotel where the Bangladesh team is staying. A 'Gwalior bandh' has been called by right-wing organizations on Sunday, the day of the match, to protest against alleged atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh following the fall of the Sheikh Hasin government in August. In view of this, the security arrangements of the city have been tightened because the match is also to be held on Sunday.
Strict security arrangements
According to the police officer, the decision of Bangladesh team not going to the mosque might have been taken at the management level of the team. According to the official, the city Qazi had met the Bangladesh team and inspired them to offer Friday prayers at the mosque by 1:30 pm. Keeping this in view, extensive security arrangements were made outside the mosque, but he did not come. In view of the India-Bangladesh match, more than 2500 policemen have already been deployed for security. Police will be deployed on the roads for security arrangements from 2 pm on Sunday. The police officer said that after the match is over, policemen will remain on duty until the spectators reach home.
